True fitness isn't a competition with anybody but yourself.

My Personal Fitness Story

Spending my formative years on a farm, I embraced a vibrant existence deeply rooted in the natural world. Athletics became my fervent pursuit, and I thrived in the realms of lacrosse, hockey, and skateboarding. It was a quintessential and idyllic upbringing.

My life took a tragic turn when my mother passed away just before my 21st birthday. To cope, I turned to alcohol, consuming 10-15 drinks daily.

By 25, I was 265lbs, 40% body fat and deeply entrenched in alcoholism until a life-threatening diagnosis of Acute Pancreatitis.

This forced me into a month long stay in the hospital, marked by blood transfusions, a 60-pound weight loss, and a brush with death. This stark wake-up call ignited my resolve to rejuvenate my physical and mental well-being, seeking healthier coping strategies for my mother's loss. At 26, despite a career-ending knee injury in professional lacrosse, I pressed on.

Once again, I found myself deeply immersed in the fitness world. I couldn't help but compare myself to those ripped models in Men's Health, believing I needed to maintain my body mass to compete. But then, after encountering some of these models in person, my perspective shifted. I decided to take a different path and focus on shredding weight.

My fitness journey became my salvation and a route to redemption, showcasing the act of resilience and transformation's remarkable potency.

This newfound focus on working out led to an intensified struggle. I began suppressing my trauma through an eating disorder, eventually becoming a functional bulimic. I craved that dopamine hit and release, so I'd indulge in unhealthy food, only to regret it later and engage in a cycle of purging. It became a habit.

Seeking stability, I returned to Toronto to be near my father and my dog, Bayly. This inspired me to launch a fitness business, becoming a beacon of health, guiding others towards wellness . My journey has evolved into a mission to help others on their own path, utilising my expertise as a personal trainer to guide and inspire. Alongside this mission, my passion for ice hockey continues, with my participation in four teams, allowing me to relish the camaraderie and competition that the sport offers.

My path to fitness, mirroring life itself, has been a winding journey marked by peaks and valleys. Through this experience, I've grasped the significance of self-compassion, a valuable lesson I aim to impart, underscoring that each person's journey is distinctive, and their challenges only fortify them.
